Jim Wyatt of Titans Online broke the story on how the Titans brass is getting down and dirty when it comes to pro days. Head coach Mike Vrabel and general manager Jon Robinson have taken an active approach when it comes to pro days for certain prospects. The two of them have actually participated in certain drills and exercises.
Among other stops, Jon Robinson was at the University of Tennessee pro day. Wyatt has Robinson on the record saying they are definitely putting in the time, evaluating potential targets.
“I’m still sore from that one (in Knoxville),” Robinson said.
Robinson is adamant that digging beneath the surface with players reaps benefits.
“It is a chance for you to instruct the player, to teach the player to see how he is going to respond,” Robinson said. “And for d-linemen specifically, it is a chance for you to feel those guys. Some guys when they hit you, they may be big but they are not real heavy. When guys hit you, you can feel that they are real heavy and powerful.”
Robinson goes on to mention that Mike Vrabel mixes it up with the athletes and is right in the thick of everything. He says they are taking the bull by the horns.
“It’s a chance to get to know them… I think the more active we can be in engaging with these guys and getting to know them and spend time with them and not just sit on the sideline from afar, it’s a good thing,” he said.
